I shopped around trying to find fair trade organic quinoa. I’m sooooo thankful to have landed on this site and loved their story and practices and dedication to excellence. I ordered and was sooo happy to have the option of not plastic packaging that was a big selling pint also for me. Fair trade is also important to me so thank you. Customer service was also excellent, they ran out of one of my items in the size I ordered and got to me by email to ask what they can do to get me what I wanted. Ended up with more quinoa in the end they are so generous.
This is a wonderful product and prewashed and carefully packaged and shipped. Thank you!
I'm so happy with this quinoa. I have yet to make it, but 10 lbs of it came in zero plastic packaging as promised. And it's such a great paper bag it comes in! The white quinoa looks so good and I can't wait to make it. I love that it's pre-rinsed. It got here so fast with free shipping and the company was quick to answer my question about their plastic free packaging before I ordered. Thank you so much for helping the planet!
What is quinoa?
Quinoa, or Chenopodium quinoa of the Amaranthaceae flowering plant family, is a grain crop grown for its edible, protein-packed seeds. The plant itself is most closely related to spinach and beets, and also boasts iron-rich, edible leaves.
What are the health benefits of quinoa?
Quinoa is ridiculously healthy and chock-full of nutrients! Check out our nutritional benefits page for more information.
Is quinoa gluten-free?
Yes! All quinoa is naturally gluten-free. Keen One Quinoa is processed in a dedicated facility, eliminating any risk of gluten contamination.
Does quinoa need to be rinsed?
Yes, but not ours! Quinoa produces its own natural pest deterrent called saponin. Saponin is bitter to the taste and acts as a poison to small insects, birds and rodents. It’s a general diuretic to most humans, which is why you should always rinse your quinoa with water if possible. To make things simple for our customers, Keen One Quinoa is triple washed and ready to enjoy, no extra rinsing required (unless you really want to).
Why the name Keen One?
Keen One stands for "life giving,” “necessary,” and “of premium quality” — which our products are! The idea for the brand was sparked in a classroom at University of Colorado Leeds School of Business. It’s a great story, actually. Read about it here!
